To the Editor:
It comes as no surprise that I support my mother’s candidacy for trustee. I’d like to give a little background on why you should support her too.
Her stewardship of her personal finances is nothing short of miraculous. Without revealing personally embarrassing stories, if it wasn’t purchased on sale, it wasn’t purchased.
In Liverpool, a mother’s lessons were, “save time, save gas, save money.” She has always spent community funds with the same care as if her own. You can be sure, when focusing on the village budget, the same discerning eye will be there.
My mother, while never elected, has a vast experience with small government. She has covered five municipalities and school boards for the Eagle Newspapers group. As a child, I attended so many village meetings, the village lawyer brought me snacks.
She has spent 30 plus years observing local government; 11 of those years as a member of a Zoning Board of Appeals. For her ZBA service, she was appointed and reappointed by Republican administrations. She often found support working with Republicans.
For me, I am most proud of her work with the Gleason Center. It is a historic structure in Liverpool, not unlike 22 Main St., an aging municipal building of historic character. She, and others, applied for private and government grants and raised funds through private contributions. The building was restored and re-purposed for mixed private and public use.
As to Main Street, my mother has been a small-business owner, and worked for small businesses.
My mother is the kindest, most generous person I know. I hope on March 16 you vote, and vote for my mother.
