To the Editor:
I would like to thank everyone for voting on Election Day. It tells me that people have been paying attention. For anybody that voted for the candidates of their choice in the Village of Cooperstown, thank you.
This past election was an outstanding example of the power of the ballot. With candidates being chosen by four votes or 100 votes, this past election should be used by the parents with children to have them understand that your vote counts.
Now it is time for our new mayor-elect to take the bull by the horns and make a difference in our obviously divided community.
I hope this opportunity is a door opening to mend fences and bring the desires of the majority of the community back to the forefront.
For those of you that were shocked at the results I hope this past election will open your eyes. To this tried and tested community the more things change the more they stay the same.
I hope that the people that have donated their time and efforts on behalf of our community will continue to do so with the understanding that we are taking a different road to the same end.
I hope that your sincere love of our community continues to work on behalf of our mayor-elect and his Board of Trustees. I would like to thank you all for the past work and devotion to our community.
You are all going to have the opportunity to work with a great manager and his style may be different but his devotion to our community is sincere. He will need all of our help and guidance.
