Conor Reynolds, 17, Soccer Standout; Father, Aunts Raised In Cooperstown

4-2-10

Conor Warren Reynolds, 17, an outstanding high-school soccer player whose father was raised in Cooperstown, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Bayside Medical Center, West Springfield, Mass., the victim of a stabbing.
Conor was born in Springfield on May 8, 1992.  He was a senior at Cathedral High School.  From kindergarten through middle school, he was a student at Holy Name School in Springfield.
An outstanding athlete, Conor had been a valued player on the Cathedral High’s varsity soccer team for four years.  Last season, he was named to the All State Team and the Springfield Republican’s All Scholastic Team, and was looking forward to playing at the college level this fall.
His coach, Joseph Pantuosco, had expected Conor would be one of the most successful college players in Western Massachusetts.  “Our program is where it is today because of the unselfish play of Conor,” the coach said.  “Without him, we are vulnerable; with him we can and do play with anyone.”
Conor is survived by his large and loving family; his father and mother, Liam and Kate Reynolds, his brothers Brendan and Ryan and his loving extended family.
His paternal paternal grandparents were William V. Reynolds, M.D., of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Maureen Lee Mann of St. Augustine, Fla., both formerly of Cooperstown.  Conor’s father is a 1978 CCS graduate whose six sisters, Conor’s aunts, all graduated from CCS.
Memorial donations may be made to Cathedral High School.
