Things are looking brighter for plans to update the Lakefront Motel, after the village Planning Board recommended the village trustees redefine the facility as a “hotel.”
A hotel is allowed in an R-2 zone; a motel is not, Village Attorney Martin Tillapaugh told the trustees Monday, March 15.
As such, if owner Paula Wickoff is willing to jump through several more regulatory hoops, she may be able to upgrade the hotel via a special permit.
Meanwhile, Wickoff is conferring with neighbors to see if common ground can be found.
