Michael MacLeod, Glimmerglass Opera general & artistic director since 2006, will leave at the end of the 2010 season.
Elizabeth Eveillard, board chair, announced the change Tuesday, Feb. 23, and said MacLeod’s replacement will be announced in the next several weeks, in time to plan the 2011 season.
FIRST FAMILY: Cooperstown’s Idelsons – dad Jeff is president of the National Baseball Hall of Fame – bought the first season ticket to the NYCBL’s Cooperstown Hawkeyes.
PUBLIC WELCOME: The Otsego Land Trust and DEC have signed an agreement to develop public access from the Compton Bridge on Route 11C, between Index and Route 33, including parking, fishing, a boat launch and a footpath.
BOWLS ABOUND: The fourth annual Empty Bowls Luncheon is noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Hoffman Lane Bistro. The $15 gets you a hand-thrown bowl, plus soup and bread, to benefit the food bank.

Melanie Oudin, whose grandfather Folger lived in Cooperstown and who has many relatives locally, is featured on the cover of this month’s Tennis magazine. Called “the sophomore,” she “made the biggest splash ... since the Williams sisters ... Now comes the hard part.”
